This paper represents our first foray into submissions to arXiv. arXiv, is super popular within the physics and astronomy communities and is a high quality location for open scientific information such as white papers and technical reports. A while ago I was invited as an expert to contribute to the EU CARDIAC project which wanted to generate a research agenda roadmap highlighting research priorities in accessible and assistive ICT that will favour eAccessibility. I recently got and update from John Gill (the co-ordinator).
I was recently asked by Research Councils UK ‘What are the key future challenges that UK HCI researchers can address and how can the UK research be better placed to contribute?’ Well apart from RCUK actually funding some research I thing it is by providing the research to inform industrial development; instead of often trying to build an industrial product ourselves as a demonstrator, or indeed, as the whole project.
